Imagine yourself in a remote location, where the desert meets the sea and a place where dreams can come true. If you love adventure and want to experience something truly unique, this may be the trip you’ve been dreaming of, in a remote place called Bahia de los Angeles (the Bay of Angels). Here you can have the opportunity to observe and swim with whale sharks, the largest species of fish on the planet. Whale sharks migrate annually to this area in the summer and fall months between June and November, for the primary purpose of feeding on high concentrations of plankton. The feeling of watching a 30 foot (9 meter) pelagic giant glide past you is something awe inspiring. There are moments where you can observe these modern day dinosaurs feeding in a vertical position, while taking in massive gulps of plankton rich water.

In addition to swimming with whale sharks, we venture far offshore in search of large marine mammals such as fin whales, humpback whales and blue whales, the largest animals on earth. Large pods of common and bottlenose dolphins can also be observed in the deep waters of the Canal de Ballenas (the Whales Channel). Although not commonly seen, there are random encounters with orcas, false orcas and sperm whales during this time of the year. False orcas are generally observed only in the summer and fall months of the year. The encounters we have with the wildlife here are uniquely special due to the isolated locations out at sea where we venture. Many times we are alone when we encounter these species.
